"SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION"

 

Purpose of Scholarship

The JC/Lady Graytop Memorial Scholarship Fund, established  in 1977, is a permanent memorial to Emperor J.C. AKA James Christiansen and Empress Lady Graytop AKA James Torches, vibrant members of the LGBT Community and The Imperial Sovereign Court of Seattle & the Olympic and Rainier Empire (I.S.C.S.O R.E.).  Since its inception, we have awarded over $60,000 in various scholarships to deserving students.

 These scholarships are provided annually to deserving students who support our

organization’s goals of:

We believe that by encouraging the pursuit of these goals, we are helping individuals develop their potential and thereby further enhancing the future of our community.

Thus, preference is given to students who self-identify as LGBT, members of

LGBT families, or straight allies who have been strongly supportive of the LGBT community.

General Criteria for Scholarship

 All applicants must:

General Criteria for Awarding Scholarships

 The Scholarship Committee will use, but is not limited to, the following information to determine eligibility for awarding a scholarship(s):

Each award will become effective only when the recipient is enrolled as a full time student, no later than eight (8) months after the award date – October 2008

The recipient will be responsible for having the institution notify the Scholarship Committee of enrollment verification and providing the institution’s mailing address.

Upon receipt of enrollment verification from the designated institution, the Scholarship

Committee will forward a check in the amount of the award to the institution. 

 

Recipient(s) will be contacted by letter, telephone and/or e-mail in early January 2008 and invited to attend the awards ceremony at the I.S.C.S.O.R.E. Coronation Ball, to be held on Saturday, 16 February 2008.  The scholarship(s) will be announced and certificates of awards will be presented and made public
